<p><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">THIS trio have been together on and off for 33 years and their on-stage bonding shows.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">Chris and Eddie Amoo, along with Dave Smith, are a close, tight-knit act, especially when accompanied by a band of six musicians who flesh out their catchy songs with the perfect mix of soul, disco and funk.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">The Real Thing have made some of the greatest 70s pop songs: perennial juke box favourites that get your feet tapping and make you want to singalong with their feel good lyrics.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">They opened their set with Can You Feel The Force? and in a 90- minute energetic show they didnâ€™t put a foot or note wrong.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">The Real Thing are one of the warmest bands from</p>
<place w:st="on"></place>Liverpool and they proudly proclaimed their roots many times â€“ each mention receiving rapturous applause.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">Canâ€™t Get By Without You with its chorus nearly took the roof off the always excellent acoustics of the Phil.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">Youâ€™ll Never Know What Youâ€™re Missing, their hit ballad, was another gem in a very carefully well-paced concert</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">Eddie Amoo, in white jump suit and with a state-of-the-art microphone, was a master of ceremonies while his brother and Dave also gave 100 per cent.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">They were ever-attentive to the crowd and throughout shook hands with those at the front. They even serenaded a few lucky ladies and occasionally posed for mobile phone photos.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">Their harmonies were exceptional throughout.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">On a disco medley called Rhythm of the Seventies they paid tribute to their contemporaries such as Kool and The Gang and Chic.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">But their own back catalogue was equally well received. The autobiographical album about</p>

<p>and Children of The Ghetto.<span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">The classic number one You To Me Are Everything had everyone back on their feet again.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">And then there was a nod back to the opening song with a boisterous Can You Feel The Force?</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; font-family: 'Times New Roman'" lang="EN">The Real Thing are yet another</p>
<place w:st="on"></place>Liverpool success story â€“ a Toxteth group that never forgot its roots and in the process have to this day such a strong, loyal fan base.</span></p>
